PDEA SHUTS DOWN APARTMENT USED AS DRUG DEN IN BAGUIO CITY

Two drug den maintainers, 3 customers caught inside

A rented apartment utilized as a drug den in Baguio City was closed down by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during a lawful search on May 30, 2015.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. said that the illegal facility which, is located in No. 84, Purok 2, Lower Quirino Hill, Baguio City, is maintained by Annabell Atienza, alias Ate, 41 years old, a micro-financing officer; and Robert David, with aliases Rick Drizzel Camua, alias RD, and Kuya, 26, an entertainer. Both are notorious members of Pagare Drug Group operating in the Cordillera Region.

At around 9:30 pm, agents of PDEA Regional Office-Cordillera Administrative Region (PDEA RO-CAR) under Director Ronald Allan Ricardo arrested Atienza and David during the implementation of a search warrant in their rented apartment in Lower Quirino Hill.

Seized inside were three heat-sealed plastic sachets containing marijuana dried leaves, one brick of suspected marijuana weighing 1,016.2317 grams, six plastic sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, weighing three grams, 18 tablets of suspected
diazepam weighing three grams and various drug paraphernalia. The confiscated illegal drugs have a total value of P117, 408.0885.

Suspected visitors of the drug den identified as Anthony Castillo, alias Tulig, 37, a member of Sadeek Drug Group; Joel Mijica, alias Miller, 33, a dancer; and Reymon Sarmiento, alias Rey, 31, a taxi driver, who were inside the apartment when the operation was conducted, were likewise taken into custody.

Cases for violation of Section 6 (Maintenance of Drug Den), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are now being prepared for filing in court against Atienza and David. A separate case for violation of Section 7 (Visitors of a Drug Den) and Section 15 (Use of Dangerous Drugs) will be filed in court against the others.(Mr. Glenn J.
