The Quezon City Council has authorized Mayor Herbert Bautista to sign a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Public Works and Highways – National Capital Region for the construction and improvement of Visayas Avenue Extension.
In a resolution authored by Councilor Marivic Co-Pilar, the council approved the first step – to enter into an agreement –with the DPWH – NCR – for the implementation of the road extension project from Tandang Sora Avenue to Republic Avenue.
Under the MOA, the necessary funds will be provided for the clearing and removal of structures in accordance with Republic Act 7279.
Affected by the implementation of the project are 1,353 informal settler families (ISFs).
The QC government will undertake the clearing and removal of the ISFs subject to the rules prescribed under RA 7279 and the structures to be affected by the project.
The DPWH is responsible for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the road extension project.
